HP LASER PRINTER ERROR CODE 40 – DATA TRANSFER ERROR
ALL HP LASER PRINTERS
1. Computer and printer may be set to different baud rates.
2. Computer is powered off.
3. Unseated or defective MIO card.
4. Indicates an abnormal connection break occurred while Transferring data from the
computer.
5. Turn printer off and reseat
the network card.
6. Verify that the printer
serial configuration is set the same as the computer.
7. Check
that all cables are connected to the EIO ports and that the EIO board is
seated properly.
HP LASER PRINTERS 1200, 2200, 3100 FAX, 3200 FAX, 4100
1. EIO bad transmission.
HP LASER PRINTER 2200 ERROR

1. The connection between the printer and the EIO card is bad.
2. Press GO to clear the
error message and continue printing. 3.
If the error message persists, turn the printer off and reset the EIO
card. turn the printer on. 4.
Replace the EIO card.
HP LASER PRINTER 2300 ERROR
40 1.The printer
detects a serial data error ( parity, framing, or line overrun ) while
receiving data from the computer. 2.
Press the select button to clear the message. HP
LASER PRINTER 2300, 2410, 2420, 2430 ERROR 40.X 1.The
connection has been broken between the printer and the EIO card in the
specified slot. ( X is the slot of the net work card ) 2.
Press the select button to clear the error message. 3.
Turn printer off and unplug power cord and reseat the EIO card or the
network card. HP
LASER PRINTER P3005 1.
A data error (parity, framing, or line overrun) has occurred while the
device was receiving data. 2.
Check the connection with the card in the EIO slow to see if it is
broken. 3. Check the
connection with the HP Jetdirect embedded print server if it is
broken. 4. Press
SELECT button to continue printing, data will be lost. 5.
If the message persists, contact HP Support.
HP
LASER PRINTER 3027M/3035
1.
The connection between the device and the EIO card is the specified
slot has been broken.
2.
Touch OK to clear the error message and continue printing.
3.
Check the EIO connection.
4.
Turn the device off and then turn the device on.
5.
if this message persists, replace the formatter.
HP LASER PRINTER 4100, 4100MFP
1. The connection has been broken
between the printer and the EIO card in the specified slot.
2. Press GO to clear the error message
and continue printing.
3. Reseat the EIO card in slot [X].
HP
LASER PRINTER 4200, 4300, 4250, 4350 ERROR 40
1.
A connection with the network card and the mother board has been
broken abnormally. 2.
Print to another network printer to check network configuration from
your computer. 3.
Check configuration in the network settings and the printer network
card. 4. Ping the
printer in dose mode. 5.
Put just the printers I.P. address in your browser and see if it
pings. 6. If all
that is right and the error persist. Replace the EIO / Network card.
HP
LASER PRINTER 4345MFP, 5025MFP, 5035MFP 1.
Check the connection between the MFP and the EIO card to make sure it
has not been broken. 2.
Turn the MFP off, and then turn the MFP on. 3.
If this message persists, the embedded HP Jetdirect print server might
be damaged. 4.
Replace the formatter.
HP LASER PRINTER 5100,
5200
1. The connection has been
broken between the printer and the EIO card in the specified slot.
2. Press GO to clear the
error message and continue printing.
3. If the message
persists, replace the EIO card, and then replace the formatter, if
necessary.
HP LASER PRINTER 8100, 8150
1. The serial transmission
error has occurred.
2. The serial baud rate
setting is different than the computer.
3. Reseat the EIO/NETWORK card
on the printer.
4. Replace the network card.
HP COLOR LASER PRINTER 4500, 4550
1.
A connection with the card in the specified slot has been broken.
2. Check that all cables are
connected to the EIO ports and that the EIO board is seated properly. HP
COLOR LASER PRINTER 4600, 5500 ERROR 40 BAD SERIAL TRANSMISSION. ERROR
40 BAD EIO CARD TRANSMISSION. 1.
A serial data error (parity framing, or line over run) has occurred during
the reception of data.
2.
A connection with the EIO card in slot X has been abnormally
interrupted. 3.
Check that all cables are connection to the EIO ports and that
the EIO bord is seated properly
HP LASER PRINTER 8500
1.
An EIO accessory connection has been abnormally broken while transferring
data from the computer to the printer.
2. Print an EIO configuration
page to verify that the EIO accessories are installed properly.
3. Check that all cables are
connected to the EIO ports and that the EIO accessory is seated properly.
4.Turn the printer off and on
to reset it. All data in the print buffer will be lost.
HP LASER PRINTER 9000, 9040,
9050MFP
1. A serial data error (parity framing, or line over run) has occurred
during the reception of data. 2.
A connection with the EIO card in slot X has been abnormally
interrupted.
2. Reseat serial cable or replace the cable.
3. Move the EIO card to a different slot.
